Welcome To The Wine Trust

T

o make the wine of my ancestors, you need velvet, miles of velvet.  And piles of rubies and scented flowers and delicious fruits...

To make the wine of my ancestors, you need the rays of the sun, the soft

flicker of a wood fire, fine music and the grace of beautiful women...

And you need all these things at the same time.

Experience THE WINE TRUST difference...

"I founded The Wine Trust to ensure these great wines achieved their fullest potential and delivered their most profound consumption experience, exactly as their producers intended."

- Richard Bakal, Founder

For the past 35 years, The Wine Trust, based in Ridgefield, CT, has upheld unique principles:

  • To only purchase age-worthy wines and only during the most outstanding vintages
  • To acquire directly in Bordeaux, "en primeur" from reputable negociants and suppliers
  • To allow wines to rest undisturbed, under ideal conditions, until approaching maturity
  • To keep shipping to an absolute minimum, and only under carefully controlled conditions
  • Offer wines for sale when they reach their peak drinking window and can provide their most profound consumption experience

learn about AGING WINE the correct way

To allow the greatest wines to reach their greatest potential, to fully develop the glorious, nuanced flavors for which they are famous, the same dedicated and careful attention needs to be applied long after they leave the Chateaux.  And, this care needs to be applied consistently throughout the natural, evolutionary maturation process... Chateau Palmer Tasting Dinner at Per Se

When our friend and Château Palmer's Director of Development, Bernard De Laage De Meux, agreed to co-host our long-awaited 35-year commemorative tasting dinner, his first words were "The Château would be more than pleased to supply the wines, but Brian, could you please just promise to choose someplace fresh and interesting...PLEASE?!?" When you serve six of the most outstanding Palmer vintages from the past three decades...provided directly from their cellars... and serve them with a customized five course tasting menu prepared by the chefs of Per Se... along with a few cases of 1999 DP generously donated by John Kapon of Acker Merrall...and the gracious commentary and insider's history as only Bernard can present... you get one exceptional evening.
