DEI AGRE

Dei Agre is a small, family-run winery located in Salento in the southern part of Puglia (the heel of Italy’s famous boot). The certified organic estate is run by Marta Cesi on land that has been in her family for generations. It totals 8 hectares, of which about 5 hectares are planted, entirely to Negroamaro and Primitivo, two of Puglia’s most well-known native red varietals. Many of the vines are 40 years old, with some as old as 75 years.

Dei Agre is situated on the Salento plain at the very tip of the Puglia heel and is influenced by the extensive Puglian sun, proximity to the Ionian Sea (less than 5km away) and by the effects of the various prevailing winds that affect the region at different times of the year (the hot, humid Sirocco from Africa to the south and the cool, dry Tramontana and Maestrale from the north and northwest). Marta seeks to reflect the climactic conditions of each vintage in the wines she produces.
