To allow such great wine to reach its fullest glory, something else is needed - the most dedicated and careful attention from the time that it leaves the chateaux until the beginning of its long maturation phase, ten to fifteen years later.

For the past thirty years, it has been the charge and reponsibility of The Wine Trust, headquartered in Ridgefield, Connecticut, to provide this standard of care for the great wines of Bordeaux. Following the age old tradition of European family collections, The Wine Trust has been committed to the key operating principles:

to purchase only the outstanding vintages and only the most outstanding wines from these vintages.
to purchase directly in Bordeaux, "en primeur", from leading negotiants.
to cellar The Collection under ideal storage conditions.
to allow the wine to rest undisturbed until it reaches the beginning of its optimum drinking pleasure.
to keep shipping to an absolute minimum and then always under carefully controlled conditions.

At its inception and for some time thereafter, The Wine Trust Collection was for the sole use of the founding family. Only much later at the urging of friends, collectors and connoisseurs, were mature parcels from The Collection made available to other wine lovers, through a growing number of select retail and restaurant outlets.

And, the saga continues.

As dramatic changes in the fine wine world continue and accelerate, The Wine Trust will continue to adapt and to adopt new strategies that build on the accomplishments of the past thirty years.

One thing however will not change - The Wine Trust will continue to follow the same philosophies of dedication and and commitment that inspired our beginnings.
