CHATEAU CANON
Chateau Canon, located in the Saint-Emilion appellation of Bordeaux, was established in the 1700s and most likely named for Jacques Kanon, who bought the estate in 1760. After passing through several owners, the chateau was purchased by the Wertheimer family, who owns luxury goods manufacturer Chanel and Chateau Rauzan-Segla, in 1996. Since then, the Wertheimers have extensively renovated the chateau and 34-hectare vineyard, which is planted with 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Franc. Wines are aged for an average of 18 months in 50% new, French oak barrels, and the average annual production is 6,000 cases.
