CHATEAU PONTET CANET
Chateau Pontet-Canet, located in the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux, is one of eighteen Cinquiemes Crus (Fifth Growths) in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. The Tesseron family, who has owned the vineyard since 1975, has completely transformed it, embracing organic and biodynamic farming methods. The transformation has elevated Pontet Canet into the Bordeaux firmament and the chateau is now routinely mentioned in the same breath as the first growths. No pesticides or weed-killers are used on any of the 80 hectares of land, and harvesting is all done by hand. The wines are aged 16 to 20 months in oak barrels, and over 20,000 cases are produced annually.
